In this program scouts will learn what it means to be a naturalist.
They
will learn the difference between the terms venomous and poisonous.
They will learn about flyways, and will see live animals in
a classroom presentation and in our exhibits. Scouts will
explore the salt marsh and learn about a variety of poisonous
plants. They will also learn how to use seine and dip nets.
9:00am-9:20am Arrival and Orientation
We would like to take a moment to introduce your group to
the staff that will be conducting your program and to review
the agenda.
9:20am-10:20am Animal presentation
Learn about the habits and habitats of various reptiles and
amphibians of the Cape Fear Region with this live animal presentation.
10:20am-11:00am Tour exhibits of venomous creatures
Participant will visit the exhibits of the various Aquarium
animals that could be hazardous to your health.
11:00am-12:30pm Salt Marsh Exploration
View the activities of marsh dwelling animals and the variety
of plants found in this rich environment. Includes seine and/or
dip netting. All equipment is provided.
*Program start times can be adjusted to fit your group’s
needs.
The Aquarium does not issue a badge for this program.
