Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I pick up my race packets? There are two separate times to pick up race packets. The first is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 20 at Omega Sports, 3501 Oleander Dr, in Wilmington. The second is 7-7:45 a.m. on race day at the Aquarium, 900 Loggerhead Road, Kure Beach, 28409.
May I register for the 5K on race day? Yes, race day registration is allowed between, 7-7:45 a.m. at the Aquarium. However, there is an additional charge.
Where will the race start? The race starts and ends in front of the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher. The race begins promptly at 8 a.m.
Where can I park? Free parking is available at the Aquarium on race day.
May I run with my dog? Can I ride my scooter or bike? For participants safety, dogs, bicycles, scooters, and roller blades are prohibited on the race course.
Is it o.k. if my child joins me during the race if I push her in a stroller? Strollers are allowed if controlled by a registered race participant.
Will there be somewhere to get water on the course? If you anticipate the need for water during your race, please carry it with you. There are no on-course water stations.
Is this course closed to traffic? Completely closing this course to traffic is not possible due to NC DOT regulations. However, this time of day there should be only light traffic along Hwy. 421. Law enforcement will also be in place for safety. Please follow all pre-race instructions and on course directions for the safest race possible.
Can I get in to the Aquarium? Your race bib number grants you free entry into the aquarium on race day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What about weather? This event is rain or shine. However the occurrence of lightning or other severe weather in the vicinity of the event may result in a delay or cancellation. In the event of lightning within eight miles of the event location, it is mandated the event be delayed for 30 minutes following the lightning strike. Participants, volunteers and spectators will be asked to take cover at a designated shelter or in their vehicles. Please understand some outside factors that cause a delay or cancellation are unpredictable and may not allow for advanced warning. The Aquarium's top priority is the the safety of its participants and volunteers. Refunds will not be given if the 5K Race for the Planet is cancelled or postponed. The entry fee will be accepted as a donation for conservation efforts.
Can I receive a refund if the race is cancelled, postponed or delayed? .Refunds will not be given if the 5K Race for the Planet is delayed, cancelled or postponed . he policy is in place to cover operational costs incurred well before the event takes place.The entry fee will be accepted as a donation for conservation efforts.
