Week 15 of 95 for construction of North Carolina Aquariums’ Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head.

  • Framing of the walls and roof system for the wastewater treatment building has begun.
  • A large white buoy has been place at the end of the pier to provide a visual reference point.
  • Misener Marine continued to work on preparing the steel templates that will be use to install 18″ X 18″ pre-cast concrete piles in the ramp area (on the west side of the pier house) and set the templates for pile bent lines on the north ramp.
  • Misener Marine continued work on the south trestle driving piles for the first “turn-out” adjacent to pile bent line #14 and then continued to set piles for the next section to the east.
  • The first production piles arrived on Thursday morning. They were of various lengths and 18″ X 18″ diameter to be used to construct the north and south ramps.
  • Misener Marine installed the piles for pile bents by first washing the piles down approximately 25′ and 30′ then driving them to the final elevation.
  • GET Solutions was on site to monitor the installation of the concrete piles and to also set the seismic monitors at the north and south property lines, just behind the frontal dunes.
  • Work will continue at the wastewater treatment building, preparing and installing the 18″ X 18″ ramp piles, along with extending the south trestle to the east.  GET solution will continue to monitor the pile installation as well as the seismic activity on the site.
