Week 22 of 95 North Carolina Aquariums Jennette’s Pier
- Misener Marine set up the templates and then installed the 24″ X 24″ concrete piles at the following locations: Pile bent #5 (piles #1, #2, #3, #4 & #5), pile bent #4 (pile #1, #2, #3) and pile bent #11.1 (pile #1, #2, #3, #4 & #5). The piles installed at pile bents #5 and #4 are on the north side of the north trestle and are adjacent to or under the Pier House. The piles at pile bent #11.1 are on the Pier, just east of the Pier House. Of the 108- 24″ X 24″ piles that will be driven from the north trestle between pile bent #12 and pile bent #1, 44 have been driven to date.
- Misener Marine removed the templates and the spud platform from the above pile bents and set the platform and templates on pile bent lines #3, #2 and #1 on the north side of the north trestle. They washed the piles into position at the following locations: pile bent #3 (pile #1, #2, #3, #4 & #5), pile bent #2 (pile #1, #2, #3 & #4), pile bent #1 (pile #1, #2 & #3) and will drove the piles over the weekend.
- Misener Marine set the pile caps on the north and south ramps to the Pier, at the following locations: Pile bent #(-5), #(-4) & #(-3). They also installed ( with grout) the steel dowels in the top of the piles and then filled the pile pockets with concrete.
- Clancy & Theys installed a fiberglass door frame in the Wastewater Treatment Building (as a sample) and built a mock-up of the treated wood rail to be used on the Pier for the Architect to review.
- GET Solutions was on site to monitor the installation of the concrete piles at pile bents #11.1, #5 & #4 at the Pier and Pier House. GET Solutions also monitored the grouting of the steel into the top of the piles at the pile caps and the filling of the pile pockets with concrete. Concrete testing was performed on the concrete for the pile pockets.
WORK PLANNED FOR NEXT WEEK:
- Clancy & Theys may begin installing the exterior trim at the Wastewater Treatment Building.
- Misener Marine will continue setting the templates and the 24″ X 24″ Pier and Pier House piles on the south side of the north trestle between pile bents #11 and #1.
- Misener Marine will continue to set the pile caps on the north and south ramps.
- GET Solutions will continue to monitor the pile installation as well as the concrete pours on the pile caps.
