Whale of a Weekend packs in more fun than a single day can hold! The N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher invites everyone to celebrate the opening of new, marine mammal exhibits during Whale of a Weekend, Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3.
Be one of the first to experience Dolphin Discovery and Right Whale Quest! Match wits with Holly, a life-like bottlenose dolphin inspired by a real animal living in North Carolina coastal waters. Take a 3-D virtual journey from North Carolina to the Bay of Fundy with North Atlantic right whales, Calvin and Delilah. Both adventures are sure to inspire action and awe for the amazing marine mammals found off our coast.
Whale of a Weekend also features hands-on education stations to engage visitors of all ages. Explore a humpback whale’s family tree. Try out a blubber glove. Check out echolocation in action. Play the whale watch scavenger hunt and much more.
In addition, marine mammal experts from around the state share their knowledge and experience. Talk with representatives from the N.C. Maritime Museum, N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, North Carolina State University’s Center for Marine Science and Technology, Surfrider Foundation and University of North Carolina Wilmington Marine Mammal Stranding Program.
All the fun of Whale of a Weekend is free with Aquarium admission!
