Paintings, photographs and scratchboards of native animals are featured in the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher’s newest installation in the Spadefish Gallery. The new exhibit features beautiful art created by the members of the N.C. Wildlife Artists Society (NCWAS) and runs through October 21.

NCWAS consists of juried members from across the state. Members’ artwork focuses on illustrating the natural beauty of the state and its wildlife using various artistic styles. One of the goals of the organization is to educate and show the abundance of animal and plant species in their natural environment through ongoing exhibitions. More information about the Society can be found at  www.ncwas.com.

The Spadefish Gallery at the Aquarium showcases North Carolina artists throughout the year. Artwork that coincides with the Aquarium’s mission of “inspiring appreciation and conservation of North Carolina’s aquatic environment” is located on the second floor of the Marine Building.
