Pirate skeletons, caped superheroes and fairy princesses will once again haunt the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher. The 12th annual Trick or Treat Under the Sea conjures up family fun from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 and Friday, Oct. 25.
During the aquatic-themed festival guests are invited to dress in costume (no masks for adults, please) and prowl the Aquarium for spooky good times. Expect shrieks of delight during Halloween-themed games. Even zombies will giggle with delight at the roving performers and two magic shows per night. Scary divers lurk among the sharks in the Cape Fear Shoals. Brave souls find an extra thrill exploring the haunted gardens and meeting live animals. Those gnawed by hunger can dine at the Sharkbites snack bar on the outdoor deck.
Local merchants, also costumed for the event, will distribute treats and coupons to trick-or-treaters. Judges will recognize the merchant booth with the most imaginative, spooky and environmentally-friendly theme each evening.
Advance tickets available online here and at the Aquarium, $8 each. Children 2 years old and younger are free. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Please note: umbrella strollers only. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Be green and bring your own trick-or-treat bag.
