This is a posting for seasonal and part time/temporary positions.  These positions do not include state benefits.  Position includes work on weekends and holidays.  Hours may vary per week.  Recommended candidates will be subject to a background check.

The mission of the North Carolina Aquariums is to inspire appreciation and conservation of North Carolina’s aquatic environments. The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is located in Manteo, NC and is nine miles from the Atlantic coastline in Nags Head.  The 61,000 square-foot facility is sited on 16 acres overlooking the Croatan Sound and houses over 1600 animals in its collection. Over 300,000 guests visit the aquarium each year to see the largest collection of sharks in North Carolina, learn about sea turtle conservation, participate in a variety of programs, enjoy the beauty of the area, and think about how special North Carolina’s waterways are.

Description of Work:

Looking for something unique? The Aquarium may be the place for you. Our Visitor Services Team provides exceptional service to the visiting public in the unique environment of Aquariums and exhibits featuring fish, alligators, sharks, otters and many more. Cashiers sell tickets using the CounterPoint POS system. They register guests for a variety of exciting programs including behind the scenes tours, animal enrichment programs, kayaking and more using the Outbound Reservations System. Cashiers are an integral part of the Aquarium's mission and support these efforts through membership sales, animal adoptions and the collection of conservation donations.

The Aquarium is open daily from 9-5, so weekends, weekdays, and holidays are required. Occasional fun evening events will also be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

This position requires cash handling and customer service experience and knowledge of basic computer skills.

Training, Experience and Job Requirements:

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
