Job Title: Assistant Outreach Coordinator
Salary: $11.19 per hour

*This is an hourly position with a maximum of 32 hours per week. It is classified as temporary/part-time and does not include state benefits.
Reports directly to the Outreach Coordinator
Primary duties include developing, promoting, preparing, presenting and evaluating aquatic educational fee-based programs, presented off-site.
This position assists the Outreach Coordinator with research and development of new programs, utilizing creative interpretive aids to stimulate interest and to make education fun and engaging for a variety of audiences, as well as evaluating these programs for effectiveness.
Position requires frequent travel and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. As a member of the Education Team, this position also assists with Aquarium-based programs, teacher workshops, educational special events and helps staff the touch tank, discovery carts and floor programs. The instructor also represents the Aquarium at fairs, festivals, science fairs and career days, as well as state and regional environmental education conferences. Weekend, evening and holiday work may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Excellent presentation and programming skills are required. Prior experience in educational program design and assembly preferred. Must be capable of working cooperatively with others and also working independently. Must be creative and enthusiastic, and have a positive attitude and good organization skills. This is a physically demanding position and the qualified candidate must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Training and Experience
Required: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in biology, zoology, botany or other natural science curriculum related to the area of assignment, and one year experience in a natural science field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a good driving record and valid state license.
Preferred: Prior experience presenting live animals in an informal education setting.
Prior experience with marine science programming a plus.
