DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

*Position will function as Security Guard/Greeter for the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher in Kure Beach, NC*. Reports to the Security Chief and is a member of the Customer Services Team under the leadership of the Visitor & Member Services Coordinator. The primary responsibility of this position includes ensuring the safety and security of all staff and visitors, the Aquarium facility, exhibits, displays and work areas. Provides front-line customer services to all visitors; greets school and bus tour groups, assists with parking and unloading of groups, provides information and assistance to visitors; handles visitor complaints and problems; identifies safety issues, maintains visitor accident log, investigates visitor accidents and injuries; opens and secures building at the beginning and end of each day; provides presence in giftshop and admissions area to deter shoplifting and theft; provides special events and after-hours facility rental security. Weekend, holiday and evening work will be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Demonstrated experience with safety and accident processes

2. Demonstrated experience in security operations.

3. CPR and First Aid certification.

4. Demonstrated customer service experience.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalency and one year of experience in security work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
