How many adults are required?

For every group of ten children attending, one adult is required.

What if we don’t have 10 people interested?

You can bring a group that is smaller than 10 provided you pay for 10 participants. $450.00 is the minimum fee for our Sleeping with the Fishes Program.

Can we have more than 30 participants?

We can accommodate groups larger than 30 participants as long as we know at least three weeks before the scheduled date.

What time should we arrive?

The program begins at 6:00 pm; we need your entire group at the Aquarium by 6:00 pm.

After we arrive, where should we meet?

Your instructor will meet your group at the front of the Aquarium at 6:00 pm. Your group will not be allowed into the building until 6:00 pm.

Can we arrive later than 6:00pm?

Please plan to arrive on time, tardy arrivals affect the whole group and will result in shortening or elimination of programs. If your group is running late please call 910-458-8257 ext. 222 and leave a message if no one answers. Groups arriving after 7:00pm will be charged a $45.00 late fee for each half hour they are late after 7:00pm.

Will we see the whole facility?

Our staff will give your group a guided tour of the Aquarium in the morning before we are opened to the general public, in which all exhibits will be seen. After our tour, your group is welcome to tour on your on as long as you need.

Where and when will we sleep?

Your group will be sleeping in front of our Cape Fear Shoals tank. The sleeping area is carpeted. We will show a movie beginning at 10:00 pm in this area and the lights will be turned down at this time. We plan for groups to go to sleep at 11:30 pm.

Do you provide bedding?

You are required to provide your own bedding. Sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, cots, and/or air mattresses are allowed.

What else should we bring?

We recommend you bring the following personal articles to include a toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, facial soaps, and any medication. We also recommend that you bring sleepwear that is suitable for a coed group.

When is the program over?

The program is scheduled to end by 9:00 am. However your group is welcome to tour the Aquarium more on their own after 9:00 am.

Are there showers available during our overnight?

Showers are not available, but there will be restrooms with sinks if people care to wash faces, brush teeth, etc.

Can our group visit the Gift Shop?

The Gift Shop will be closed when your group arrives for the sleepover, but will reopen at 9:00am the next morning.

How much is our deposit and when is it due?

All deposits are $100.00. Deposits are due one week after you receive our confirmation letter in the mail. This information will be sent to you in a confirmation letter shortly after your tentative reservation is made.

When should our final payment be made?

We require you to pay $350.00, which is the minimum cost (10 participants) for sleepovers one month from your scheduled event. You must be paid in full for all of your confirmed attendees one week before your scheduled event. Payments will be used to determine your final number, which we use for ordering food and staffing. Additional attendees may be added to your reservation after this point provided that payment accompanies these additions. This information will be sent to you in a confirmation letter shortly after your reservation is made.
