Daily Programs

Daily programs are appropriate for all ages and offer a chance to learn more about marine environments, see an animal up close, and interact with our educators to learn something new! These programs are available on a first-come, first serve bases. Additional programs may be available on the day of your visit. Check the program screens at the aquarium upon your arrival or ask a staff member for the most accurate program schedule.

What’s New highlights upcoming events at the aquarium.

Dialog with a Diver

Talk with divers in the Cape Fear Shoals tank as they go about their daily tasks, from 20 feet under! Your questions will be answered about what they’re doing, wearing and swimming with.

Times: 10:30 am, 2:30 pm

Creature Feature

Whether it’s a game, puppet show or a live animal, participants in these interactive programs learn more about creatures and their habitats. From topics like sharks, alligators, whales, dolphins and coral reefs-all are lively subjects you’ll enjoy.

Time: 11:30 am

Animal Encounters

Enjoy a unique visit during your Aquarium visit! Meet animals found in your own backyard, from frogs, turtles and snakes to a wood duck, crabs, alligators and sea stars.

You’ll also gain insight into the biology of each animal and its habitat.

Time: 3:30 pm

Ocean Odyssey

So much to learn, so much to see! Join an Aquarium educator to discover fascinating facts about our watery world. Dress up like a shark, touch a turtle shell or test your aquarium knowledge.

Times: 1:30 pm

Animal Feedings

What do the alligators feast on? Fish have to eat their vegetables too? Animals are fed daily at the Aquarium.

During these interactive feedings, observe the animal’s behavior, learn about what our fish and reptiles eat and why, how we prepare their food and have your questions answered by an Aquarium educator.

3 pm - Roan Island (red eared sunfish, pumpkin seed sunfish)
Tuesdays:
11 am - Buzzard’s Bay (salt marsh fish)
3 pm - Touch Tank (invertebrates, stingrays)
Wednesdays:
11 am - Raven Rock (short-nosed sturgeon, carp)
3 pm - Shadows on the Sand (skates and rays)
Thursdays:
11 am - Shark Tooth Ledge (reef fish)
3 pm - Hidden Hunters (long nose gar, catfish)
Fridays:
11 am - Shadows on the Sand (skates and rays)
3 pm - Cape Fear Shoals (eels, sharks)
Saturdays:
11 am - Buzzard’s Bay (salt marsh fish)

Take a seat in the auditorium for a short film. From coral reefs to whale migration, these educational movies will have you yearning to learn more!

Smart Cart Connection

Be on the lookout for Aquarium educators and volunteers sharing information on a variety of interesting topics. Carts stocked with shells, skulls, crafts, and activities are set up in different locations to highlight aquarium animals and habitats.
