The Aquarium also offers special programs for Scout troops and school groups. If you can’t bring your class or group to the Aquarium, our sea turtles, horseshoe crabs and other critters can hit the road in our traveling Outreach programs. Invite an alligator or other special guest to your child’s birthday party at the Aquarium. Or let your kids bunk down for the night in view of a sunken submarine and 400-pound sharks as they “Sleep with the Fishes.”

Aquarist Apprentice is a behind-the-scenes tour for Ages 13 and up.Join Aquarium staff on a behind-the-scenes tour, help prepare animal meals and participate in daily care and maintenance tasks. Learn about the animals as you assist our aquarists with their caretaking responsibilities. $25 for nonmembers; $22.50 for members. To register: Click Here and scoll to the bottom of the page.
Aquarium ABC's is a program for ages 2-5 held Tuesday mornings. Preschoolers love learning about aquatic species and wildlife with live animal encounters, crafts to take home and storytelling. Current Outdoor Programs
When the weather is warm enough, the Aquarium hosts several outdoor programs like marsh exploration, paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing. Public outdoor programs start June 5, 2017 and end in September.
Programs include Sound Seafood: learn the art of catching crabs and clams; Stand Up Paddleboarding for ages 12 and up AND Stand Up Paddleboarding for ages 6 and up; Sea Turtle Trek: stroll the nighttime beaches looking for turtle nests; Surf Fishing-Fishing Fanatics: learn to catch the big ones with hands-on instructions; Roosevelt Natural Area Paddle Trip: explore tidal flats and quiet backwaters of Eastern North Carolina.
