The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores offers fishing programs for all ages, experience levels and time schedules. In addition to covering essential skills, the programs deliver messages on conservation.
Fall Surf Fishing and Pier Fishing
Get in on the fall fishing fun with the Aquarium’s weekly sessions, available through November. Registration now open. The Aquarium covers the fishing license requirement for participants and provides equipment and bait. Call 252-247-4003, ext. 257 or email the Registrar for more information.
Surf Fishing, Fridays, 9 a.m. to noon
Find out how to catch the big ones from the surf with basic instructions, followed by hands-on experience. Ages 10 and up. $15 per person
Evening Pier Fishing, Thursdays, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Drop a line from a local pier and try your luck, with help and advice from Aquarium instructors. Ages 8 and up. $20 per person
Get Hooked Fishing School - March 13, 2010
The Aquarium’s annual Get Hooked Fishing School can help you make your fishing dreams come true. The one-day springtime course at the Aquarium on Saturday, March 13, 2010, is packed with presentations from the pros that suit every style. Experts share tips and techniques on such topics as catching flounder, drum, trout and king mackerel; inshore fishing and offshore bottom fishing; and fly-fishing and surf fishing. Registration includes a catered lunch, and chances to win fishing gear and visit with variety of vendors. Registration begins Jan. 2. Check back for fees and other details.
