It’s good to be home. Onlookers cheered as six sea turtles rehabilitated at the Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation (STAR) Center were released back to the ocean on Saturday, May 4. Two green sea turtles and four loggerheads made their way back home during the release at the Frisco Bathhouse beach access, part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

A pleasant walk on the beach will often reveal unpleasant findings among the seashells: namely single-use plastics, one of the most common of which are drinking straws.
