Request for Qualifications

Sealed qualifications will be received by Mr. J. It is the intent of the owner to select qualified Exhibit Contractors as the Prime Contractor for this work. Lump sum bids will be received for the work.

This project will include phased renovations to galleries and support areas, and additions to the Roanoke Island Aquarium in Manteo, North Carolina. Renovations include enhancement of existing spaces and the complete renovation of certain galleries. Additions include an infill between two existing buildings at the Ticketing Area and a Gallery expansion and Vestibule. The General Construction work is in support of Exhibits Fabrication and installation. Structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, audio-visual and communication systems have been modified, added or extended to accommodate the project. Bids will be received for single prime contracts. The proposed construction budget is approximately $4,000,000.00.

Interested Contractors must complete the State of North Carolina Prequalification for Single Prime Contractors form in its entirety to be considered for this project. Qualification Requirements Package will be open for inspection in the offices of Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates in Greensboro, North Carolina, beginning on Monday, August 4, 2014 and may be obtained by contacting Lauren Beverly at Moser Mayer Phoenix Associates lbeverly@mmpa.com.

To qualify, contractors are hereby notified that they must have proper license as required under the state laws governing their respective trades. Contractors are notified that Chapter 87, Article 1, General Statutes of North Carolina, will be observed in receiving and awarding general contracts. Contractors submitting qualifications for this project must have license classification “Building Contractor.”

NOTE–SINGLE PRIME CONTRACTS: Under GS 87-1, a contractor that superintends or manages construction of any building, highway, public utility, grading, structure or improvement shall be deemed a “general contractor” and shall be so licensed. Therefore a single prime project that involves other trades will require the single prime contractor to hold a proper General Contractors license.

A cut off date for queries has been established as 5:00 PM, Tuesday August 19 2014. All requests for clarification must be in writing and emailed to the Architect’s office to the attention of Lauren Beverly (lbeverly@mmpa.com). No verbal requests for clarification will be considered.

The owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive informalities.
