1) How can I schedule a field trip?
Contact the Registrar toll free at 800-832-3474, ext.4, to reach the Aquarium, followed by ext. 232, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Aquarium requires that groups register at least two weeks in advance. This allows the Aquarium to schedule group visits in a timely manner so students have a more enjoyable experience.
2) How long does it take to tour?
An hour or two is usually sufficient, but you can easily spend more time if you take advantage of educational programs. Plus, spending extra time at each exhibit will help you learn even
more about the fascinating animals and their habitats.
3) Where can we get something to eat?
The Aquarium has an on-site food vendor from April to October offering hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream, drinks, etc. However, food and drinks aren’t allowed inside the Aquarium. The Aquarium also has on-site vending machines.
4) Do you have picnic tables available?
Yes, several picnic tables are located on the grounds. They are available on a first-come basis and fill quickly.
5) Do you have a Gift Shop?
Yes. The Aquarium gift shop sells t-shirts, books, toys, jewelry, games, other items and Aquarium souvenirs. It also offers souvenir packs for school groups. Ask the registrar for information.
6) How many chaperones are needed for a group?
One chaperone is requested for every 10 students.
7) Do you have tour guides?
The Aquarium is a self-guided facility and is designed to easily lead visitors through its many galleries.
8) Who do you call if you are running late?
Please call (252) 473-3494, ext. 232 or 221, as soon as you are aware of any issues or concerns with your arrival and/or departure times.

10) Do you have adequate parking for school and tour buses?
The Aquarium has bus parking in the visitor parking lot, as well as space for overflow parking.
11) What is your busiest time of the year for school groups?
March through May. Fall and winter are ideal times for group visits. Crowds are less and there is much more space to view exhibits.
