Education Interns (paid and unpaid available)

Classification: Temporary, part-time*
Salary: $8.25 per hour**

Duties
The education intern positions are responsible for presenting a variety of educational programs to the public and aquarium visitors. This position will present live animal programs, dive shows, assist with our free-flight bird program and on-the-floor education at touch tanks, respond to visitor questions, utilize electronic communication systems, and will be responsible for working with full-time educators on a variety of special programs and projects. All interns must be currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate and will be required to work some weekends, evenings and holidays.
*This is an hourly position, with a maximum of 40 hours per week. It is classified as temporary/part-time and does not include state benefits.
Training and Experience
Requirements:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Interest in presenting public programs to large and small audiences.
• Knowledge of NC coastal species, habitats and resources.
• Strong interest in working with live animals, especially reptiles and birds.
• A current tetanus shot.
Preferred: Prior animal handling and public speaking experience preferred.
