The North Carolina Aquariums’ Jennette’s Pier is in Nags Head, NC on 6 acres of prime oceanfront property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The 16,000 square-foot pier house and 1000 foot long fishing pier with three wind turbines is a platinum LEED certified facility that demonstrates sustainable design to the nearly 200,000 guests it attracts annually. This unique educational facility offers a variety of programs, interactive and live animal exhibits, recreational fishing opportunities, public access to the beaches, a platform for ocean observing and marine research and a stunning reception hall available for public and private events to enhance the visitor experience.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The North Carolina Aquarium’s Jennette’s Pier seeks a dynamic, well-organized, energetic, customer-service focused person to manage and direct the Pier’s facility rentals program which will promote the Pier, increase attendance, and generate revenue. Serving as the Rental Coordinator this person is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and supervising two assistant rental coordinators and a year-round schedule of on-site facility rentals. This position is responsible for ensuring that all rental clients and outside vendors associated with the rentals understand and adhere to all internal policies and facility use guidelines. The Rental Coordinator will work cohesively with all departments within the Pier and manage all rental events to ensure the safety and welfare of clients, visitors and staff. This position will develop and manage a marketing plan and budget to promote facility rentals to include print, digital and social media while collaborating with the Public Relations Coordinator. This position collects fiscal data including rental revenue, program participation and client evaluations. The Coordinator will be able to interpret Pier exhibits to rental clients. Information is used by the Rental Coordinator to inform and recommend a budget for positions, programming, marketing, equipment and materials and to reflect Pier contributions to DNCR environmental and education initiatives. This position demands excellent communication skills, public relations experience, event management experience and A/V use. Weekend and evening work is required.
Must meet DNCR Fleet Safety Guidelines and have ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

In order to qualify for this position you must meet ALL the following KSA's listed below:
1. Experience in planning and scheduling events with emphasis in working with weddings and corporate rentals including working with associated vendors.
2. Supervisory experience.
3. Experience in marketing, social media and customer service.
4. Experience with sales and budgeting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
