This is an hourly temporary position, and several positions are available. Hiring will occur in February/March/April of 2021. This position will work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours vary seasonally. It is classified as temporary/part-time and does not include state benefits. Recommended applicant will be subject to a background check.

The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is located in Manteo, NC nine miles from the Atlantic coastline in Nags Head. The 61,000 square-foot facility is sited on 16 acres overlooking the Croatan Sound and houses over 2200 animals. More than 280,000 guests visit the aquarium each year to see a large array of sharks, learn about sea turtle conservation, participate in a variety of programs, enjoy the beauty of the area, and learn why North Carolina’s waterways are so special.
Description of Work and Job Requirements:
• Cashier duties associated with admission sales/ticketing.
• Registration of public programs and collection of fees using online reservation system.
• Customer service and membership sales for NC Aquarium Society
• Provide visitor information about the aquarium and the local area.
• Duties as assigned.
• Must have touch screen Point of Sale and cash handling experience.
• No minimum number of hours are guaranteed.
• Weekend, Holiday and some Evening work required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. This position requires cash handling and customer service experience and knowledge of basic computer skills.
2. Applicants must be articulate; have good communication skills, interact well with the general public and staff, and have excellent customer service skills.
3. The successful candidate will be able to work in a pleasant manner with the public for long hours.
Education and Experience:
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
