This is an hourly temporary position. This position will work a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours vary seasonally. It is classified as temporary/part-time and does not include state benefits. Recommended applicant will be subject to a background check.

The mission of the North Carolina Aquariums is to inspire appreciation and conservation of our aquatic environments. This mission is achieved by attracting, retaining, and developing a world class team of professionals; providing visitors with outstanding exhibits, experiences and customer service; practicing sustainability, internal customer service and fiscal responsibility; and working to save and restore aquatic species and habitats.
The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, located 20 miles south of Wilmington, NC, in Kure Beach, overlooks the Atlantic ocean and Cape Fear river. A living collection of over 2,700 animals in 93,000 ft2 of exhibit space attracts and engages over 440,000 visitors each year. The Aquarium is surrounded by protected woodland, marsh, and beach. Visitors often plan to stop at sites adjacent to the Aquarium - Fort Fisher State Recreation Area and historic Fort Fisher Civil War Museum. Fort Fisher Aquarium is a unique place to visit, and work.
Description of Work and Job Requirements:
· Welcome visitors to the aquarium while verifying ticket purchases and memberships.
· Create reservations using online reservation system and processing required payments via credit card or cash using Point of Sale system.
· Assist with the sale and renewal of memberships.
· Provide visitor information about the aquarium and the surround areas.
· Duties as assigned.
· No minimum number of hours are guaranteed.
· Weekend, Holiday and Evening work required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The Guest Services Unit seeks a qualified, passionate candidate to join our team to ensure a consistent, memorable guest experience and provide the highest level of customer service as well as safety and enjoyment for guests, members and the community. The guest services department serves as a bridge between the Aquarium and the public, interacting with a variety of guests. Team members are an excellent source of information about the Aquarium, exhibits/programs and the surrounding community. This Position requires cash handling and customer service experience and knowledge of computer skills. Applicants must be articulate, have good communication skills, interact well with the general public and staff, and have excellent customer service skills. The successful candidate will be able to work in a pleasant manner with the public.
Education and Experience:
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
