We are excited to invite campers to explore the aquatic world with us here at the Aquarium. Campers will participate in environmentally-focused camps with field trips, interactive games, outdoor adventures, behind-the-scenes experiences, crafts, STEM-related discovery stations and explore the animals that call the Aquarium home!

Animal Adventures Camps

Animal Planet, HALF-DAY, WEEK-LONG (Ages 6-7)
June 19-23, 2023
Monday through Friday, 9am - 1pm
Enjoy fun-filled indoor and outdoor activities, games and crafts, and meet our ambassador animals during creature features. Delve into the animal kingdom!

Junior Shellebrate Turtles WEEK-LONG CAMP (Ages 8-9)
July 10-14, 2023
Monday through Friday, 9am - 3:30pm
Scutes, carapace, and beaks, oh my! Learn what it means to be a turtle, and discover turtle species that live in N.C. Explore the wonderful world of turtles and make turtle promises on ways to help protect them!

Junior Aquatic Adventures WEEK-LONG CAMP (Ages 10-11)
August 7-11, 2023

Monday through Friday, 9am - 3:30pm
Have fun in the sun and dive into science to explore aquatic ecosystems on the Outer Banks! Explore the “splash” intertidal zone at the beach, muck around for crabs in the salt marsh, and go kayaking behind the tallest, active living sand dunes at Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

Aquarium Time DAY CAMP, single day (Ages 6-8)
August 15, 2023, 9am - 4pm
Come spend a fin-tastic day at the Aquarium. Explore the wonders of many local N.C. habitats and animals by adventuring through many galleries: Seven Rivers, Wild Wetlands, Sea Treasures, S.T.A.R. Center, Delicate Drifters and visit the largest exhibit—Graveyard of the Atlantic. Enjoy animal discovery games and crafts, reel in a fish on our Soundside Pier, go behind-the-scenes, visit with animal ambassadors through creature features and more!

Fisherman's DAY CAMP, single day (Ages 9-12)
August 17, 2023, 9am - 4pm
Enjoy an exciting day on our soundside Pier fishing for Atlantic croaker, pinfish, spot, blue crabs, and other brackish water fish. Gain core knowledge of basic fishing equipment, learn about species size limits, practice the art of Japanese fish printing “Gyotaku” to learn fish characteristics and anatomy, practice casting, and be able to go fishing twice this day.

Aquarist & Junior Aquarist Camps

Calling all young aquarium keepers!  Learn what it takes to care for some of the animals and to work behind the scenes at the Aquarium. 

Junior Aquarist DAY CAMP, single day (Ages 9-12)
June 14, 2023, 9am - 4pm
Test your food preparation skills as you make veggie meals for the box turtles, view a river otter enrichment and prepare food for the shark exhibit.  Be prepared to spend time in our aquarium “kitchens,” and get a little fishy! 

Junior Aquarist WEEK-LONG CAMP (Ages 10-11)
June 26-30, 2023

Monday through Friday, 9am - 3:30pm
Ever wondered what it would be like to work alongside colorful fish and splashy stingrays? Get a beginners’ look at what it means to be an aquarist at the Aquarium with animal diet prep, animal care, enrichment, and more! 

Aquarist WEEK-LONG CAMP (Ages 12-13)
July 24-28, 2023

Monday through Friday, 9am - 3:30pm
Campers will learn about NC native animal species living in the Aquarium, understand and prepare animal diets, investigate and test water quality, perform a mock animal necropsy and understand how scientific data is collected for animal welfare.
