The mission of the North Carolina Aquariums is to inspire appreciation and conservation of North Carolina’s aquatic environments. This mission is achieved by attracting, retaining, and developing a world class team of professionals; providing visitors with outstanding exhibits, experiences, and customer service; practicing sustainability, internal customer service and fiscal responsibility; and working to save and restore aquatic species and habitats.
The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, located 20 miles south of Wilmington, NC, in Kure Beach, overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Fear river. A living collection of over 2,700 animals in 93,000 ft2 of exhibit space attracts and engages over 440,000 visitors each year. The Aquarium is surrounded by protected woodland, marsh, and beach. Visitors often plan to stop at sites adjacent to the Aquarium - Fort Fisher State Recreation Area and historic Fort Fisher Civil War Museum. Fort Fisher Aquarium is a unique place to visit, and work.
Description of Work:
Greeter/security position requires excellent customer service and will have constant interaction with the public including school groups, families, and children. This position will also be responsible for patrolling aquarium grounds and filling in for cashiers during operating hours as well as during special events in the evenings. Holiday and weekend work required.
Job Requirements/KSA:
-Customer service experience.
-Knowledge of the standard safety, security practices and equipment.
-Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time in all types of weather.
Education and Experience:
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
